Ted, 42 votes? That's it? Geez, no wonder everyone in Washington state is having kittens.

Two questions. One, who called for the recount to be only in a few counties?

I don't know. It's considerably cheaper to do only a few counties........preferably ones that went for Gregoire, the Dem. I think that was the initial thinking. However, I think she realized that that would be a big mistake.

And two, why are the Dems having trouble raising money for something this important?

I don't know. Cheap? Kerry wired 250k on Wednesday.

Surely someone like George Soros can easily spare a small fraction of his billions toward a worthy liberal cause like this. After all, he already wasted $25M on this past election, so what's another half million?

I have not followed the money machinations. The first recount did not finish until last Friday. So its only been a week......there must have been some hesitation to pay the full amount because Gregoire said on Thursday if there was a partial recount, she would concede. That prompted the Dems to put up the full amount.
