Paying taxes is (at least on NH) not dispositive of ownership....keep disputing his claim....

You said you have an easement on the disputed section, right? If properly recorded, it should survive transfer of the property (Ask a lawyer. I'm not one - I just play one on TV;-). The subsequent owners should have been aware of it when they bought (it's part of the county land records) and are bound by it nonetheless.

There are also circumstances, I understand, where your use of that little piece of the other lot for a very extended period of time with the knowledge and implied concent of your neighbor could lead to you having a continuing right to use it even without a recorded easement, but that's much trickier, especially with new owners objecting.

But again, I'm not a lawyer. I don't even remember where I heard or read the second point. If it's important to you, ask a lawyer, or if you do have an actual, recorded easement, just show the new neighbor that.
