We had a hand in that, supporting Saddam Husayn, with Reagan's personal and direct support; specifically ignoring his use of chemical weapons; shipping to Saddam biological agents including anthrax. We had a hand in that, supporting Iraq for years as he fought Iran (which we hate too) including killing at least 200,000 Iranian military and citizens, some of them with chemical weapons that we pretended Saddam wasn't using, even as we tried to get Saddam to build a pipeline for our benefit. We had a hand in supporting the man that killed Iranian Shi'a citizens. Sorry that most of you are Shi'a, but we expect you to pretend that didn't happen and go about life as normal. We also helped the Iranians kill Iraqi's too. Sorry, we shot down an Iranian civilian airliner full of your culturally closely related Shi'a brothers and sisters. Pretend that didn't happen. (Ask 10 Americans which nations have shot down a civilian airliner and I bet you less then 3 of 10 will mention Iran Air flight 655)supporting terrorist organizations all over the place Show me direct links between Saddam (whom we supported directly) and foreign terrorism and a body count . Don't show me innuendo, show me facts. While you are at it, show me Saudi foreign terrorists (we support the Saudis after all) and show me their body count. Compare the total and then tell me why we didn't steam roller into Saudi Arabia but instead chose Iraq?using the UN money to starve its people while paying bribes to the Russians and French to lift the sanctions, which was working. I can think of better ways to change the oil for food program and its problems than invading the country and launching a civil war. Can't you? Is your mind that limited? Seriously?Do you have anything to say to the modern victims of tyranny? Yes, indeed I do. I shall write this as coming from your hand: Dear Iraqi Citizen, Saddam was a bad man and we rid the country of him, therefore only praise to us shall pass your lips. You are hereby ordered to forget the past and ignore everything that we have done to you, because we are not bad like Saddam, we are just bad in a good and thoroughly healthy way - never wrong, and never to be challenged. Remember, only praise to us, preferably while kneeling before us. Please forget that the United States of America long supported the mad man who did many bad things to you. By order of the President, America has been bombing critical Iraqi infrastructure for over a decade, designed - intentionally - to cause civilian death, disease and suffering. If you lost family due to polluted water or sewage borne disease, please ignore this. Please also ignore that we broke UN conventions during a time of ceasefire, by breaking Article 54 of the Geneva Convention which prohibits the deliberate destruction of drinking water supplies and irrigation works. Just pretend we didn't do that. Its a war crime after all, so best we not talk about it. We invaded not to free you, but because your land was important to us and we want to experiment with your culture - to play God in essence - because we have this notion that we can force you to look more like us, and like it at the same time. Pretend we are just wholesome liberators with no other motives, ok? In the process we have killed tens of thousands of your citizens and we ask you to look the other way, to not lump us in as being "bad as Saddam" in this regard, because, well, we have lofty goals. Sorry about killing your brother | sister | aunt | grand father | mother | father | ___ insert victim relation here ___ | or maiming you or your child for life. We ask you to overlook the fact that we don't intend to ever leave. We ask you to pretend that our form of tyranny is better than what you suffered in the past. Oh and by the way, we ask you to overlook the fact that we've invited all our best business buddies to come into your country and make a buck off your backs. Remember - what we've done to you isn't tyranny, no matter how much of what we've done may resemble what Saddam did to you, we are better. We have a higher purpose, and God is on our side (not yours). Thanks for understanding. Sincerely, A Sanctimonious Self Serving "Might Makes Right and We Are Always Right And Never Complicit" Citizen
