Lucent sold their unix to Novell (the Bell Lab unix was not the same as Berkeley Unix. Novell sold Unixware and stuff to Santa Cruz Operations (SCO). There's a company called SCO Group that says they own the property right. I haven't followed events closely but SCO sued IBM a while back. I think Novell claims to own some of the unix property rights.

Ballmer may be super wealthy, but IMO he is not too bright. Most evil people keep their intents close to their vest; Ballmer lets his intentions slip out frequently.

He is no comparison to Monty Burns;-)
