How in GODS NAME can ANYONE feel it is APPROPRIATE to remove CHRIST from CHRISTMAS?

It is not, IMO, appropriate to remove the Christ from Christmas. You are right. Christmas is about Christ. Non-Christians who would deny that are way over the top.

Conversely, it is not appropriate for some Christians to insist that no thing can happen during the Christmas season that isn't Christ-centric. Maybe on Christmas Eve and Christmas day, but not for an entire month. If people who are or are not Christians want to engage in some other community activities during this period, activities that are not about Christ, then it is similarly over the top to deny them that. That is not "removing Christ from Christmas." It is simply acknowledging that celebrating Christ's birth is just one of the activities in which humans can engage. And acknowledging that things slow down at this time of year, people go home to visit, so it's a good time for people to get together. For whatever reason.

Both extremes on this issue need to get a grip, IMO.
