Didn't mean to be condescending, but it does appear to me that many people don't understand that Bush's plan is a net zero impact to the total ss obligation.

Anyway, I like your idea to some extent, but the main thing I have against it is that I don't like the government giving money away, except for explicit charitable purposes. Our government simply cannot afford to give matching like companies do in our 401Ks, because our government is not a profit-making organization. The best idea is to just privatize 100% of social security and mandate horizon type funds for everyone for the amount they contribute. Check out horizon funds like Fidelity Freedom funds. That way, we ensure people have decent retirements when they get old, but we don't bankrupt our government to do it.
