its funny how when you live through something
new, you don't often see the significance of it
until much later ... hindsight and all that, eh.

Yeah and there are a few other sports labeled
"Extreme Sports" that I've been noticing.

When we went skiing last year I could not find a
single youngster with skis strapped on. Instead
everyone prefers snowboarding.

Looks fun. Maybe I'll try it someday.

Yesterday I tuned into NBC between commercials of
the NFL pregame show.

What I saw just blew my mind.

Those kids on BMX bikes do some amazing stuff.
Similar to skateboarders.

But this was way out!

The kids were riding their bikes down a rugged
rocky mountain.
As if they were doing that crazy steep skiing that
Scoot does.
But there is no snow. Just red clay and rock and
their bikes.

It seems that there are a lot of these alternative
sports for kids to get into today.

They even built a skateboard park at the recreational
park in town. (Though it seems that many of the
kids prefer the bank's parking lot with it's various
obstacles, curbs, and railings.)

Luckily, so far my kids haven't asked for one.

Though they like to ride their wagon, Big Wheel,
and other toys down the steep hill in the back
yard when no one is looking...
