Well, that's not good if it got to the point that her lymph nodes are swollen. My brother got something like that when he was a teenager -- he fell off his bike and got stabbed in the knee by a stick and didn't bother to do anything about the cut when he got home. A few days later he could barely move his leg because the lymph nodes in his groin were getting swollen. (Recalling these stories, it's no wonder my mom was always such a nervous wreck!). Anyhow, my brother was okay after a long run of antibiotics. I guess that's the trick these days though -- there are a hell of a lot of antibiotic resistant organisms around.
