Do a search....learn the history. The Russian gov't in 1996 said that Alger Hiss was not in their record books as a counterspy, and to the best of their knowledge, did not do what Nixon accused him of doing......ruining his career in the process. Between the late 1940s and the mid 50s, the GOP ruined the careers of a number of good people. Ted: you have proven the point "He put a traitor named Alger Hiss in jail. The left would make him pay. He paid the price in terms of his personal peace." The quote was simple one. You are attempting to tar and feather an excellent author because liberal historians are pushing a version of history that exhonorates one man. You ignore the facts once again. You are claiming the left went after Nixon because of past deeds and not Watergate. All that I am saying is that if they did, and that's a big 'if', they had reason. Have you ever seen the old videos of Nixon? If you had, you would not have made the statement above.....no one will ever think that guy was honest....with the shifty eyes, the constant 6'o'clock shadow and the 24/7 sweat glands. So, by your measure because President Nixon was not attractive and Clinton could lie without breaking a sweat, Clinton is ok, and Nixon is bad. I did not think of you as being that shallow. That's right.......sadly, people are influenced very much by appearance. That's why men make more money than women; why tall men make more money than small men; why white people make more money than people of color; why thin people make more money than overweight people; that good looking people are perceived to be more honest than less attractive people. Biases are every where......in every aspect of this society.....in our lives. I do not equate the two behaviors. I am sorry you can not make a distinction between breaking and entering, and lying about a sex act under oath. In fact, I am embarrassed that grown adults made this as big an issue as they did. Frankly, they needed to get a life and not be so partisan. So Bob Packwood was a great man? Clinton groped and raped unwilling women who were subject to his power; Packwood did the same thing. I don't know Packwood nor his story but I doubt highly that Clinton raped any woman no matter the current claims. If you think differently of Senator Packwood and Clinton, then you are the partisan. My opinion of Clinton stands......it has nothing to do with partisanship but my take on the man. Its my opinion and it could well be wrong.
