Take a more relevant and a more recent example. Israel's occupation of Lebanon. Israel had to give up after 18 years.

Iraq will be a similar story for the US. Sad to say this, but lots more of US soldiers will have to die and lots more debt has to be put on the backs of our children before you folks get the sense to say what some of us are saying now -- pull out of Iraq.

Well, first off I have to congratulate you that now you are admitting to the fact that we are consider invaders.

All you have to do is visit and stay in any Asian country to know what I am talking about. The concept of "LOCALISM" is very strong. If you are a new comer to any small town or village - they will initially welcome you warmly and even let you assimilate amongst them - however if you cross them in anyway they will not hesitate to cut you - an outsider - down. People bury their blood feud to first kick off the outsiders and then resume their feud. So don't be surprised if Shias, Sunnis and Kurds form an alliance. And yes world has changed a lot and they can be effective right now instead of waiting centuries. US might be a rich country but not rich enough as Colonial Britain or Spain to keep people on leash.
