I don't think you are hearing me. Working smart or dumb has nothing to do with it. Look at any of the overpaid multimillion dollar a year CEOs. Do any of them trade anything for his pay beyond his time? I can make the same point about singers, NFL players, or the construction workers. If not, then I have proven my case.

People do in fact crave time. As much as possible, I wish to spend less of my own time and gain more of other people's time. I pay for someone else's time so he will do my taxes. I pay for another person's time so he will mow my lawn. I am capable of doing both on my own, but other people pay for my time enough that I don't have to use it up in those activities.
