Sun, re: What is the source of everything that you have earned in your life? The only realistic answer is your time/life. Now the value of your time is a function of what you do with it (i.e. your skills or knowledge) as well as the supply and demand for you. But ultimately, you have always had only your life to trade for what you want.

The relationship between time and money is an odd thing. There are a great number of people whose earning skills are so low that most of their available energy is spent to earn enough so that they can continue to eat and keep a roof over their heads. I imagine that the majority of the world's population fits into this category. For such people it's not a matter of how they choose to spend their time, it's a matter of how they must spend their time.

For people like many of us who post on these boards, it's largely a matter of choice. Among us are some who, like me, often choose to forego money and what it can buy for time spent in non-money pursuits.

I suspect there is a sizeable subset of us, however, for whom there is not a money/time conflict; they see the pursuit of money as a very satisfying way to spend their time. After all we are a competitive species. They are, as some would say, "in hog heaven." g. Ed
