David I'm sorry to put Canada in the comments I made because I admit that Canada's wait list problem is a disgrace. He should have contacted his ICBC claims adjuster and explained that he would be adding to the claim with time lost at work AND the cost of a private MRI. You can be sure ICBC would have arranged one somehow so as not to be stuck with the bill. In fairness your brother would get addicted to pain killers anyway as it only takes 2 weeks for neuroadaptation to occur and there is no way in any system that a person would get an MRI the next day unless you owned an MRI machine.
