Ireland is great to visit! Black currant cough drops, the best ever. Ruins, ancient crumbling castles, burial mounds, abandoned cottages everywhere, and you can just walk up to them. Very clean bathrooms, wonderful fresh bread in even the tiniest little country store, very slow and peaceful except for Dublin, which is exciting and fast.

The Catholic Church is losing its influence. Parents don't automatically beat their children to keep them in line anymore, so hopefully there will be fewer alcoholics in future generations. A law was passed last year prohibiting any smoking at all in pubs, and most people who smoke are trying to quit.

However, the average house price is a little over $250,000, and the young can't all afford to buy. It is getting weird in a modern way like that, and there is drug dealing and for some reason, gangs of middle aged children--around ten or so--have been catching dogs and torturing them in many towns. I have no idea what that is about, but it's very disturbing.

I'm not having very good luck with your urls--the one on keening didn't work, either!
