And if you had a chart that went back further in history, you'd also find how glaringly obvious it is that the government has been spending a grotesque amount of the people's money on creating a vast empire of foreign miltary bases, overwhelmingly militarized hardware and infrastructure priorities and the most malevolent bully-boy culture on the planet today.

No sane observer believes that the U.S. has been benevolent in its military spending since WW II ended. Nor does any sane observer believe for an instant that all this military might is for purposes of defense.
