Musharraf is a guy who has outsmarted Bush. After all, it does not take much to outsmart Bush. Musharraf has not done anything of significance to further the US's war on terror. He can a lot more but he is refusing to do that. Instead he has been able to extract a lot more from the US than he has given back in return. Typical Musharraf double talk: "I know Osama is alive and well but I do not know where he is." And Bush believes him in spite of that.

Pakistan is not ruled by a fanatic Islamist government and that's a good thing. True Musharaff is a dictator, but he has cooperated with us on the WOT - as witnessed by the captures of AQ bigwigs like Khalid Sheikh Muhammed, a planner of the 911 attack.

It was a renegade Pakistani scientist who was trading WMD technology around the world. No one thinks he was acting with government approval.
