Anything is possible. But remember that platoons bring together people from every walk and station in life. It's not likely that any American unit will be made up entirely of recruits from the dregs of society. There is usually a pretty interesting mix. They, their non-coms and officers are all volunteers. That's why, by and large, atrocities that would be covered up anywhere else generally float to the surface in the American military.
