Hi Glenn, Facing an imminent deadline, I just put in an application today to be a radio personality on a new community radio station here in Bend, OR. If they have any sense at all, they'll hire me (for nuttin') in a Noo Yawk Minute. My banter, patois, and verbal legerdemain will be featured in doses of dementia called "the real news"...... just kidding. We're going to wrap the truth up in a Chief's Blanket we're calling "Ray's Radio Rodeo", or alternatively "Ray's Rowdy Radio Roundup". I thought about knocking off Robin Williams' "Good Morning, Vietnam" and titling it "Good Evening, America!" but then I decided that with the sort of general audience we have hear-abouts, that a more folksy Will Rogers approach would be in order. None of that slick, smarmy, sarcastic smorgasbord of sassiness that personalities like Air America's Randi Rhodes exude. Nosirreebob, we are going for that downhome sincere effect. We know how to fake that just fine. Just like the big boys. Now here's the thing, Glenn. I think there's a real opportunity here for you. A chance to break into the world of advanced communications. I figure I'll need a good bantering partner from time to time. Someone who could hold up the Republican point-of-view to something other than utter ridicule. That could be you! Good-cop, bad-cop. Or Devil vs. Saint. We could trade roles to keep the audience guessing who's on top, who's on first and who's line is it anyway. Déjà Vu Again? lewrockwell.com December 15, 2004 by Harry Browne This morning I watched a few minutes of Fox & Friends – the Fox TV News network’s version of Today and Good Morning America. Two of the three hosts were interviewing one of their foreign policy experts. Among the three of them, they made the following points about Iran: * Iran is developing nuclear weapons (you know, weapons of mass destruction). * The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors are doing a terrible job of monitoring nuclear installations in Iraq. * The IAEA work should be replaced by a UN Security Council resolution ordering Iran to give up its nuclear work, since such a resolution can be backed up by force. * The European countries aren’t backing the U.S. against Iran, because the French and Germans are greedy and want to get rich doing business with Iran. * The U.S. should bring about regime change in Iran. This all sounded eerily familiar, but I couldn’t put my finger on where I’d heard this before. Don’t tell me. I’m sure it will come to me. Aha! I remember now. This is exactly what was being said about Iraq two years ago. Not once in the Fox discussion was Iraq mentioned – no references such as "We were wrong before about Iraq, but I’m sure we’re right now about Iran" or "We were wrong before because it’s easy to get those two countries mixed up, since there’s only one letter difference between them." It is amazing how people can seriously suggest repeating the Iraqi debacle.
