"a new generation of homeless vets not seen since the Vietnam era."

Doesn't surprise me. When you have people who have to be on their toes 24/7, it hits them pretty hard. I knew many vets from 'Nam who had their lost years. The only heartening thing is that most that I knew eventually found a way back to society as pretty normal people. But it takes time.

Yes, lots of time. We are still learning about PSTD and its impact on the human body and psyche. There are millions of soldiers who have served in both Gulf Wars. However many of them who have or are experiencing PSTD not only effects themselves but the people around them. The fact that many of them end up homeless is particularly disturbing.

Nice pimp! You fight for your country and end up on the streets!
