US troops these days are recruited mostly from the lowest strata of American society and from those with the barest minimum of grey matter, if any, between the ears. To be sure, many are lured to enlist by promises of "goodies" (a college education, for example) upon completion of their service. But most do not get to enjoy the "goodies" or lack the wherewithal to enjoy them. The low-life from the lowest strata of American societies have an inferiority complex which is largely compensated for by being members of the American military --- a "noble" and "patriotic" calling ----- which they believe empowers them to be trigger-happy and ruthless to folks they love ro regard as being inferior to themselves. Abu Ghraib happened largely because of such characters and then some. BTW, did you know that in the early part of the Vietnam War, most of the US fighting forces were blacks and Hispanics? Then some whistleblowers succeeded in ensuring that the bodybags that came back included those of so-called "whities" too! That's when droves of draft-dodgers fled the USA for havens in Canada and elsewhere. By the way, is the ongoing downward slide of the USA reversible? Care to comment? What about the ever burgeoning national debt and trade deficits which have mortgaged the future of all Americans? Is it really fair or moral for the USA to be paying its creditors with cheapened US dollars (after currency manipulations)? Care to comment? BAN me all you want! This thread has largely devolved into a cheerleading thread for the USA and for all its ignoble and shameful policies and deeds, instead of one where honest debate and sharing of opinions are heard. .
