Speaking of bird flu concerns, you should check out next month's Scientific American which covers the 1918 pandemic. Pay close attention to page 70 which has the "flu family tree" and Wilson Smith N 1933 (the sequences in Korean pigs in 2004)

The various isolates are unique, suggesting the infections are widespread. Korean animal quarantine division is investigating. Analysis may be coming out soon.
