But at the time back then not because of oil.
You are on a wrong track here.
Oil hasn't driven territorial aggressions for that many years of World History.
Man's aggression was invented long before oil. And will most likely survive oil by a great many years.
Unless some crazy rogue nation with access to nukes decide that World in their opinion would be better joining the eternally recycled 72 virgins.
Or whatever they believe would expect their warriors but not us infidels.
