Rocks are cool.

Where I grew up -- New Orleans and Baton Rouge -- rocks do not exist, except for those which have been trucked in.

The Mississippi River valley used to be something like ten times as wide and ten times as deep as the Grand Canyon. This factoid I got from the geology department at LSU umpteen years ago so I may have the precise dimensions wrong, but conceptually I am right. There is no rock for miles down.
