Afghanistan had an inconsequential election. The warlords are so much in control that they didn't even bother to disrupt it. I would believe that the elections meant something if Karzai has the cojones to squash the opium boom. Don't hold your breath. The mayor of Kabul is safe only in Kabul and that too, only under the protection of soldiers paid for by you and me and other taxpayers here.
