No one said that either candidates were the best their parties had to offer. Nonetheless, the two differ significantly in several areas including intellect. Maybe your Swedish mindset prevented you from seeing those differences, Tarry!

I just disagree. Speaking a couple of languages may make a person looking more intellectual in your American eyes but if that were the case most Europeans (maybe except a lot of French and Germans...) would be 2x as intellectual as Kerry and something like 4-5x more intellectual than Bush.

My observation was not based on the fact that Kerry is fluent in French but that Bush is NOT fluent in English. In case, you haven't noticed, his brain does not work properly......whether its due to too many drugs in the 60s, low IQ, dementia, too many drugs now etc.

If "smooth" equals intellectual by your definition I may agree that Kerry has an advantage though.

Smooth.......meaning someone can speak coherently and intelligently, I consider to be an important part of the president's job description.

Thus I believe I may be reasonably qualified to see those differences with very little if any of nationality based bias which might cause a problem for you as an American.
Once more Ted, the ability of speaking a couple of languages in no way qualifies a person for an intellectual in spite of what may be widely believed in Minnesota and the rest of the US.

Like I said to you previously, that is just one part of it. I also base my position on the people he has around him, his policy decisions, the quality of the administration and its performance and his overall demeanor. I believe you have been snookered but that's your privilege in a democracy.
