I don't think there really is an answer to the "stupid voter" problem. Perhaps the answer is that I leave and go live in one of the more liberal nations (western Europe or Canada). I think it is important to note that America is alone in the group of large industrialized nations in becoming regressively, backwardly religious. Other nations generally recognized as civilized are moving towards an era of more tolerance, not less. There was a pro-gay marriage ruling by a Canadian court today, in fact.

Unfortunately I think the trend is well established towards stupidity in America. Here is part of an article from The American Conservative that discusses how blue and red stateism is defined by the white birth rate. This is kind of like the situation in Northern Ireland--it is part of the U.K. today because the Protestants want it that way, but the Catholic birth rate is much higher, so eventually there will be a vote and it will become a part of the Republic of Ireland because that is what Catholics want.

Anyway, I am beginning to think America will get worse before it gets better for me:
