I must share with you however that the night Dan did that bit that later was proved to be false about Bush I was watching and I was uncomfortable. I sensed something wasn't right. It was just an emotion.. feeling that I didn't trust what was being presented. I thought Dan Rather looked sheepish too as though he were reporting it and maybe not believing it.

I had the same reaction watching Richard Nixon on TV in the 1970's, when he sat behind the transcripts of his tapes and denied involvement in the Watergate coverup.

Hubris is not an attractive condition.

"But then a lot of what I see on TV looks and sounds legit..."

It should. It is the liberal world view presented in similar
fashion to Pravda back when the Communist Soviet Union had
complete control over the propaganda they chose to be
reported to the masses.

Bring Back the Term 'Idiotarian' or...

Roger L Simon

I had gotten tired of the blogosphere neologism 'idiotarian' used a while back to describe retrograde nitwits of the Robert Fisk variety. It had outworn its usefulness and was in some ways counter-productive.

But what better term... assuming this email is real... to describe Chattanooga Free Press military reporter Edward Lee Pitts who was so clueless as to brag in email of having prompted soldiers with questions for Defense Secretary Rumsfeld:

<<<<
I just had one of my best days as a journalist today. As luck would have it, our journey North was delayed just long enough see I could attend a visit today here by Defense Secretary Rumsfeld. I was told yesterday that only soldiers could ask questions so I brought two of them along with me as my escorts. Before hand we worked on questions to ask Rumsfeld about the appalling lack of armor their vehicles going into combat have. While waiting for the VIP, I went and found the Sgt. in charge of the microphone for the question and answer session and made sure he knew to get my guys out of the crowd.

Get this guy a job on Pravda.
(Or maybe we should say simply "He's the Pit[t]s!")
