He may not have attended to the entire war but its his tenor which sounds through the organization and rung through all the planning. DO IT WITH LESS, and ignore sage advice from those whose job it is to actually run war.

Rumsfeld, despite what I think of him and his lack of ability, could have scored points by being honest. He failed to be honest.

That makes him both a bad CEO of the Military, a bad leader, and a bad politician. Failed in all three counts.
