You do have a way of redirecting conversations.
The Church and Boy Scouts.

Redirecting? Both issues are about private associations and their freedom of association. Goose and gander. I trust that you would not like to see laws in this country that force private associations.

This nation is going to hell in a hand basket when a group is denied participation in a city wide, public parade, or festival, or whatever you want to call it, because of their beliefs.

Sounds like segregation to me.

I understand that that's what it sounds like to you. But I think that you're off target. It's not their beliefs that are at issue. Who cares what anyone believes? It's actions that are actionable, not beliefs. They were excluded not for who they are or what they believe. They could be who they are and believe what they believe and, had they wanted to do a float depicting, say, folk dancing or anything that conformed with the theme of the parade, they would have been welcomed. Unless you're suggesting that people who believe what they believe are so consumed with it that they couldn't possibly have any other interests.

If you want to complain that the theme of the parade was too narrow given the nature of the event and given the season, I could appreciate your position. But if you insist that people are being segregated by belief, I think that's overwrought and missing the point.
