Mainland China IC-packaging sector suffers from worker shortage Posted : December 10, 2004 Rate this article China (mainland) – Research firm iSuppli Corp. reports that mainland China's IC-packaging industry is under pressure from the scarcity of skilled workers. iSuppli analyst Evan Chi says, "The shortages of high-level human resources represent a key challenge for advancing mainland China's assembly industry to the next stage." Chi also adds that with several major OEMs in mainland China handling high-end packaging boosting their capacities, workforce demand will skyrocket. Chi states that companies should offer higher salaries and benefits in order to encourage skilled workers in the business.
