China (mainland) – Research firm iSuppli Corp. reports that mainland China's IC-packaging industry is under pressure from the scarcity of skilled workers.

iSuppli analyst Evan Chi says, "The shortages of high-level human resources represent a key challenge for advancing mainland China's assembly industry to the next stage."

Chi also adds that with several major OEMs in mainland China handling high-end packaging boosting their capacities, workforce demand will skyrocket.

Chi states that companies should offer higher salaries and benefits in order to encourage skilled workers in the business. The government of Guangdong addresses this necessity by cooperating with universities to train prospective employees.
