Hi Nadine: I think the problem with "alien" democracy in Iraq might be better viewed if say (and please don't comment on the impossibility of it!) the UN blue helmets took over the USA and tried to force equality for women and gays in all religious institutions in the country, or for that matter just force gay marriage on the country. Some segments of the country would welcome it as a long overdue extension of justice, other segments would probably see it as a divine duty to take up arms against the great Satan, the amoral UN. As I have stated before, I think the USA's biggest problem in Iraq is the big stick, we know what is best for you approach. The goals are OK, the methods stink.
