From my POV, the question is whether a parent has the right to listen to a minor child's conversation in the family's home. I gotcha. That's one of those questions I would rather not have to answer, like "Can I read her diary?" "Can I go through her personal possessions looking for contraband?" Mine have never given me any trouble other than not cleaning their room, slacking off on homework, and being generally recalcitrant when it comes to helping out around the house. So, the questions have never come up. And the older is 19 and the younger is 17, so my fingers are crossed that they never will. God willing and the creek don't rise and all that stuff.
