Uh, not to put too fine a point on it, but I thought the gold and silver contracts were traded at the COMEX?

This is the 3rd hike in two years.

given that the margin requirement is a flat dollar amount, not a percentage, and the price of gold and silver are up substantially over the last couple of years, margin requirements s/b raised.

they tend to make a lot of changes when a particular contract becomes really popular -- note they extended the trading day on Friday for metals, too. I'm not sure this is really sinister -- I think it is a matter of protection when OI goes to new highs. More traders come in -- some of which may not be as well-capitalized??
