Since you ask- it looks like true atheists make up about .4% of the population. Not a terribly significant number. Those who say they have "no religion" seem to be around 13% in this poll- but "no religion" doesn't mean atheist. Atheist is a pretty specific and belief driven category- that seems to be a pretty small niche in the American religious spectrum
