The tax cuts were to get the economy stoked(it worked). Most economists think the stimulus attributed to the tax cuts was inconsequental while the deficits they created are doing far more damage. the drug plan was long overdue. Bush accomplished it while the Dems talked incessantly about the need for a Seniors' drug plan but never got it done. It's easy to buy things when you don't care about how you're going to pay for them... and lie about the cost, as did Bush, to create a plan that benefits the drug manufacturers more than it does the seniors it's supposed to help.
