Chaos is randomness with order and rulesets. It is a dyad of order and randomness. I'm not espousing anything that evolutionary biologists and geologists haven't found already in the past years. And in the 3 years since your encyclopedia (with articles based upon facts several years out of date) the understanding and application of Chaos Theory provides a cohesive answer for "why" evolution happens. But the matter is far from concluded.

I once said that "God lives in the cracks of science, or perhaps, science fills the cracks in God". Since I started school, graduated and lived another 20 years, they have moved the "origin of life" from 1 Billion years, to 2.1 billion to now 3.7 billion, so Evolution itself is evolving. This complexity, self-similarity, reorganization, and self-healing is characteristic of process governed by Chaos Theory and even life itself.

Life is simply a balancing act between opposite forces, manifolded through complex pathways. Believe, if you wish, that the balancing is God - but it could be just that we haven't discovered the mechanism yet - attributing it to God ends the search. We don't have the reason for dyads to exist, but we suspect that they have existed for eternity. Why? Because dyads keep things from happening too fast. They produce a gradual unwinding of the universe as opposed to an explosion where it all happens at once. To produce OUR universe, one NEEDS dyads. In the multiverse view of reality (which I think is true) this isn't true for all universes. But WE aren't in those universes.
