Yeah, it has been depressing. We lock up junkies in this country - it says a lot about how we avoid addressing core problems. Religious and jingoistic platitudes providing simple solutions seem to make up the balance of geopolitical "analysis". It is not a Party issue because both Parties have failed in keeping the REAL message alive: GET OFF THE OIL!!! One has to ask: "If the U.S. was not addicted to oil, wouldn't our Middle East policy be just a footnote and not a national obsession?" Self-sufficiency is not the same as isolationism.
