thinking outside the box (way outside in this case).

well, that depends on how one defines 'the box' and in the specific case of the future of the US economy, how the thinking and actions of politicians will affect the everyday life of people...

as the writer puts in his article...

Todays challenges present situations where conventional wisdom is just too - well - conventional!

and...

I don't really care about "my" position - even if it's "the" so-called 'euro vs dollar' position, and that is especially so if "my" position happens to suffer a fatal collision with the truth. I just want to find that truth, and do what's best for this country and its freedom under the Constitution.

i would love for politicians to make such statement, of course it will never happen... their ego will not allow them to make it, [or worse, the advisors behind them would not permit it...]

and as he finishes...

Point is: if the people of this country (you and I) were to suffer enough economic pain to eventually cause them (us) to muster enough insight and the requisite political will to make the changes outlined here, there is a chance this country can survive the coming dollar crisis intact. Wouldn't that be worth it?

questions are...

1. what does 'enough economic pain' mean? and

2. 'by whom' will the suffering be endured, in order to cause the suggested action...?

i suppose it is a matter of choosing between the risk (to lose what one has under the status quo and no longer capable to be maintained), for the reward (to obtain a solution under the possible 'revolution' -or whatever event will finally take place, in order to avert the much announced coming crisis). this includes the solution who some have taken of stop depending on the US economy as means of sustenance, diversifying elsewhere or altogether leaving US soil for supposedly... 'greener' pastures.
