- like the orient express.

i remember my mom and i taking the train
to new york from toronto to visit my
grandma when i was a kid.

it was a very big deal.

one of the things on my to do list is
to take the train from vancouver to
lake louise in the canadian rockies.

Ah, Claps. I forget how young you are. Dad (and, uh Mom) started "giving" us the train in about '54. I can't recall the exact year, but I think Dad reconstructed the tables when we moved north in '55, rather than build them here.
Anyway, that stuff was heavy duty, especially some of the locos and diesels. A lot of ours were second hand or new used. Some accessories only saw the light of day when I would scamper up a ladder in the garage and check out boxes; coal and logging operations.
Sometime I think I should grab it all for my hobby. Sometimes I think if I do go there, I should buy HO for sake of space, the final frontier. Sometime I think the net is enuf of a hobby.
Anyway, up here, we have this...

The husband of one of Malila's long time teachers (K-3; Susan started out with a K-1, and ended up with 2-3; Mall Rat( and we) had quite a relationship with her(and fambily)) has a nice model set-up;An actual 0-4-0 switch engine, fired by used oil, and a number of associated cars. He had about a mile of track, but I don't believe he ever finished his tunnel. Really. He does a lot of work with Motive Power and the Rail Museum in Sacratomatoe.
