"So," the mother asks, "You can bet that that loser George down the street didn't get accepted either. At least you can feel happy about that." "But he DID get accepted, mom!", the girl sobs. "His dad went to Yale, so he got accepted even though his grades were a D average!" "Well", replied mom, "Isn't it fair that the children of wealthy, well-connected families get privileges denied to poor people like us?" "WHAT?", the girl shrieked, incredulously. "I busted my butt to get the grades I needed to get into Yale, and George does as little as possible, knowing he'll get in anyway because of his family's connections."
