When this 5 basics patents is not valid any more.Will QCOM get any income at all from the other big companies in the cellular area or will it be the other way around when other companies basic WCDMA,EDGE,OFDM patents are still valid? No question and I agree with you about that, but given that information, what area of development would be better for QUALCOMM to pursue in the long run? I think the answer is obvious. Nokia & Ericsson aren't precluded from using WiMAX; they are purposely looking to exclude it. For 4G, I don't believe they will have that luxury - Asia is too important now. If India, for example, is looking at new greenfield deployments, which way will they go? China, Malaysia, Russia, etc. are in a similar boat; where is the 3GSM path to 4G that "Country Customers" now expect to hear about? Willie Trombone .... o8-)
