One of the things I've noticed in my readings include the fact that religion was created because it brought order to societies so that humans could organize and lead productive lives. Religion in its many forms created a code by which people could live and identify each other with. In EVERY society in the history of the world, a common set of rules and taboos developed in order to help that group of people function. When cultures or societies died out, sociologists and historians will tell you, that most often, if it wasn't an invading country that wiped them out, those societies died out because their religion lost force or the society became corrupt, or technology outpaced their religion's ability to deal with change. You see, religion equals a society's code, rules and taboos. History tells us that the most successful cultures in the history of the world have always been those with strong central codes that everyone lived by: the Greeks, Romans, Muslims a the time of Mohammed, the Byzantines, etc. Each major culture fell into decline as their moral code became corrupted. In some cases, the decline was swift. In others, it took centuries, but a society without a common code inevitably perishes. In America, our code was built from Christian roots. You can read our Declaration of Independence and all of our earliest documents and you see constant references to a Higher Authority. When the liberal left tries to turn America into a secular society what they are doing is hastening America's decline. That is why you see so many Christians standing up and deciding not to take it anymore. No one likes to see our American traditions being shredded by the new secularists that want to be more like Europeans.
