After all, Republicans worked for years to gain control of Congress. Why jeopardize that by provoking a fight over Social Security?

The White House would scrap the wage index in favor of a price index, which would calculate benefits by the rate of inflation.

I don't get this. Does anybody get this? They use the CPI-W, which is a price index.
