I thought of you last night as I was watching Robert Kaplan on Tucker Carlson. Kaplan was talking about how the troops and the reporters come from two different cultures. I remember our earlier discussions on the Bible Belt as the main source for troops.

One of the points Kaplan made was how Christian the troops were. That manifested itself in how nice they were. It also showed up in the way they all actively prayed together to crank themselves up for missions. He went on at some length about this, something I was unaware of. What occurred to me was how self-sustaining that makes the Bible Belt as the source for troops. It would be hard for others to fit in even assuming that they would want to enlist.

Of course, he could be off base. One of his points was that none of these guys would want to see a draft because the job calls for professional soldiers and we all know from UW that Kaplan is mistaken about that. <g>
