"Silly post.....no one on the right advocates such abuses...."

I'm not so sure.

I doubt very much if the detainees at Guantanimo would be treated as such under a Democratic President.

I get it. 9/11 gives permission to stoop to their level.

To my opinion America is being weakened by such behaviors. Saddam was supposedly evil because he tortured and killed those he perceived to be his enemy. Now Bush is allowing the same sort of abuse at Gitmo. Perhaps not so bad as Saddam - Yet!

Bush doesn't get it. What makes America great is things like justice and due process and individual rights. He talks about freedom but doesn't get it himself . All you have to do now is label someone a terrorist and they have no rights anymore.

I wonder if 10, 20, or 50 years down the road anyone who criticizes the government will be simply labeled a terrorist – like Saddam did to his enemies. It’s a really slippery slope the US government is currently going down.

Oh ye of great faith who puts unlimited power in the hands of mortal men. No doubt you will say I can't believe it when the rumors of political prisoners circulate. Because you are a wild eyed true believer. Do you also give loaded and cocked guns to your children? Absolute power corrupts absolutely. So why are we giving more and more power to the government?
