I really enjoyed reading the history of slavery among the Indians, but do not see it as relevant to my post. Many societies historically have held slaves. And I note that most of the Indian instances of slavery were of fairly gentle treatment of slaves, slavery that was not widespread, and problems in translation where slaves are not actually slaves. Also, if you read the entire tract, you will see that early Americans enslaved Indians as well as blacks.

But that is not important! Even if the Indians were horrendous torturers of slaves, it does not undo the behavior of the Colonists. There were people in America--Abolutionists--who knew that slavery was evil. These people were doing good works, and I admire them. The fact is that my own family--many, many branches of it--held slaves and profited from slavery greatly, and I find that disgusting, as I find most of the history of Early America for many, many reasons. That is just my opinion.

Speaking of slavery, did you know there were millions of slaves today (and this site is not even counting sex slaves)?
