PA to get $600m. of Arafat's funds
By KHALED ABU TOAMEH

Yasser Arafat's economic adviser, Muhammad Rashid, has agreed to hand over to the Palestinian Authority some $600 million believed to be held in secret bank accounts.

Farouk Kaddoumi, who has replaced Arafat as chairman of the Fatah Central Committee, told members of the Palestine National Council during a meeting in Jordan last week that the money had already been delivered to PA Finance Minister Salaam Fayad.

The Lebanese daily Al-Mustaqbal quoted Kaddoumi as telling the Palestinian representatives that Rashid will soon hand over more money to Fayad.

But Fayad, who is visiting Morocco, denied in an interview with the Jerusalem-based Al-Quds newspaper that he had received any money from Rashid.

"This report is apparently referring to our efforts, which began in 2002, to implement reforms by placing all the Palestinian Authority's investments and commercial activities at the disposal of the Palestinian Investment Fund," he said.

According to the Lebanese paper, Kaddoumi reiterated during the meeting his claim that Arafat had been poisoned.

"The Palestinian leaders are not talking about the poisoning of Arafat because they have been threatened by Israel," he was quoted as saying. "When one leader talked about the issue, he received threats from Israel."

Kaddoumi said that he had called a number of Arab leaders to demand that they ask Israel for the antidote needed to heal Arafat, but they told him that they could do nothing because the US was refusing to cooperate on the matter.

"All indications are that the poison was placed in his medicine or food," he added.

In a related development, Arafat's nephew said Saturday the lack of a diagnosis of what led to his uncle's death last month raised suspicions that he had died of "unnatural" causes.

Nasser al-Kidwa, the Palestinian envoy to the UN, made his comments after handing over the 558-page medical dossier to PA officials in Ramallah.

Kidwa told reporters that the French doctors who treated Arafat were unable to rule out the possibility of poisoning, although they said they had not found traces of "any poison known to them."

"Examinations of X-rays and all imaginable tests still give the same results: the inability of reaching a clear diagnosis," he added.

"That is precisely the reason why there are suspicions, because without a reason you cannot escape the other possibility – that there was an unnatural cause of death."

" frivolous nettles do not bother me "..

Well that’s good Darren.

But it doesn't do anything to explain why you cannot answer simple questions that challenge the integrity of the propagandist brow beating you are taking and proclaiming to be in some way authentic.

Doesn't it bother you that you are being brainwashed?

" someone who calls himself Jesus Christ should pay a visit to a shrink. "..

Au contraire my confused little Darren.

I,unlike many others who HIDE their religious association on SI,feel quite comfortable in using HIS ancient Aramaic Name as my moniker. This only strengthens my will to seek out the truth,as HE did,and help those, like yourself, who need help in finding the right way towards eternal enlightenment .
