A FEW of our men and women in uniform ARE just thugs and killers unworthy of our support. One of them was just convicted of the murder of a severely wounded teenager in Iraq--I saw it in the news. Certainly some of the military involved in Abu Ghraib fall into the same category. I suspect the military attracts a few people who lean towards these kinds of activities just because they exist in the general population, and some of these people enter the military. I would guess that a larger percentage are soldiers who are so damaged by what they see of war that human life becomes really cheap to them. What are we supposed to do about these people? It seems to me as false to pretend they do not exist as to exaggerate their numbers. I think it is very unfair to slam a huge group of people (the liberal left) with specific charges like this unless you can back them up with specific posts.
