You forget that Islam is at war with the West. The West never wanted a war with Islam. But getting your cities bombed is darn hard to ignore. As far as the west losing a war with Islam...only in your dreams.

But at least now we can deal with it squarely.

You may have missed the current trends in the Middle East. Egypt is making conciliatory gestures towards Israel. Abbas is looking more and more like a favorite and he's the most moderate, educated leader the Palestinians have ever had. Iraq is moving fast towards elections and Afghanistan just finished electing Kharzai. The Middle East is already moving towards pacification, despite all of Rumsfeld and Bush's blunders.

When our gov't woke up and realized that radical Islam was at war with the U.S., they took the gloves off and dealt with it squarely. For that I have to respect Bush, because if we'd have had a liberal left weenie as President, they might have gone soft on the situation.

We have the wealth, the military power, and the staying power to fight radical Islam until it is marginalized. Within the next 10 years the Middle East will be a very different looking place, precisely because we have leaders who are willing to kick ass when it is necessary. You will be the beneficiary of that, even though you don't deserve it.
