Thats touching. Ya see? If they had been carrying paper money it would have disintegrated in salt water and if they were carrying greenbacks they would have lost them for sure because they are the same color as stinky seaweed.

It's all in your point of view. You could also say that gold was at the root of having his whole family die.

When I was in Texas for my graduate study, my roommate who worked in a Chinese restaurant told me a same story about the owner of the restaurant. He put all his life savings in gold and made it to Thailand with his wife and two kids. In the refuge camp in Thailand, people only accepted gold (nothing else). Finally he came to US and owned one of the best restaurants in Austin.
